We are seeking a full-time SMT Operator (3rd Shift) in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling surface mount technology (SMT) electronic sub-assemblies using robotic machines. Essential functions include learning and applying basic skills for becoming a certified SMT Operator, attending to machines by loading/replenishing feeders with reels of components, entering programs into automated placement machinery, setting up support fixtures, and prepping multiple assembly lines for next shop order. You will also provide daily status and process communications, align and hand-place components, collect quality data, perform operator level preventive maintenance, troubleshoot component placement and machine issues, and notify management of any conditions felt as being undesirable or nonconforming to product specification. This position requires Garmin provided personal protective equipment, effective participation in team meetings, and adaptability to changing priorities. Basic qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, previous machine operation experience, demonstrated communication skills, and the ability to navigate in basic computer applications. Desired qualifications include 2+ years assembly experience, previous SMT Operator experience, soldering skills, and previous experience in a manufacturing environment utilizing automated techniques to install SMT and through-hole technology components.
